The butterflies and frog represent the Hothouse the shell of which still means in the park, it is estimated that the hothouse was built about 20 years after the park opened to the public (1903). It had 3 separate rooms, each one a little hotter than the last.
The hot house features a wide range of tropical plants including a banana tree, a fish tank, frogs and butterflies. The hothouse closed in the 1980’s.
