As you maybe aware, the college interested in using the Mansion and helping to fund it's renovation has now withdrawn. BHMA are now meeting monthly with a council steering group to discuss ideas on the way forward and considering alternative financial alternatives. As a committee we have members with extensive events and funding experience and look forward to working with the council. We will add the minutes from these meetings to our website . The Mayor of Salford has given his public commitment to the restoration of the Mansion and we will continue to work towards this goal.
Please find below the Minutes from meetings with Salford City Council (provided by the council). The minutes for each meeting are agreed in the next meeting before being added.
Work has started on phase 1 of the Mansion restoration. It's being cleared out and some maintenance work will then begin. This work is a very important first step and we will keep you updated with the progress.

After organising and funding the Elm tree Bench we are now holding sessions to improve the area around it, which was a rather sad looking place. It already looks much better and the sessions are carrying on though out October!
And that's the carving done. what an amazing job Chainsaw carving - wooden art has done, everything we asked for and more.
Now for the next stage... The clean up, then filling the grooves with plants and landscaping the area to create a lovely relaxation area
Thank you to the The National Lottery Community Fund for helping us bring this project to life and preserve the felled Elm for a little longer.
BHMA raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support by selling cakes and dog treats made by our wonderful Volunteer Julie Smith.
The launch was a Massive success. We gave out over 500 Maps! We also had crafts, games, drinks and snacks. The trail celebrates the animals on display when the mansion was a Natural History Museum, that lived in the Animal Park and Hot House and also some of Salford's wildlife.
Our Volunteer gardening sessions were held on Sundays during the Summer. They were great fun and enjoyed by all. We now have sessions in September and October too!
We planted around 200 sunflowers and other plants as part of Sunflowers4Salford to help Salford's wildlife. As Sunflowers grow they absorb harmful Nitrogen Dioxide from our air, so lets cut harmful pollution and feed our wonderful bees, birds and butterflies at the same time!

John Timmons and
We started working to improve the sensory garden by tidying and planting bulbs back in November 2019 and more recently been having regular sessions with our wonderful volunteers.
We also planted Sunflowers in June as part of the Sunflowers4Salford campaign, having grown them from seed. Many are now flowering, brightening up the garden and feeding the bees.
BHMA organised taking part in the Great British Clean organised by Keep Britain Tidy. Over 20 volunteers turned up on the day and over 25 bags of rubbish were collected. We plan to organise more litter picks in the park in the future to help keep the park looking it's best. We now have regular litter picks in the park.
